had 4 small cabinets I needed to redo going from dark to white. I followed the instructions and even sanded down the previous paint a lot just to get it up. I ended up having to buy 2 kits because 3 coats still wasn’t working right and some of the old paint was STILL showing through. The gloss was also not glossy at all and it looks so incredibly dull. I’m going to use Behr paint instead and pray it fixes these. Thankfully they’re my laundry room cabinets that no one sees them. I’m disappointed.

I’ve used this product several times in the past. I preferred the version that had the deglosser instead of Krud Kutter. I’ve never had problems with chipping before, but I’m noticing small chips by the knobs already.

Better to sand cabinets and then clean with cleaner before painting. Ended up using more than 3 times as much paint as what I expected to have to use. Nice to have the clear coat which helps with accidental scratches. I put on two or three clear coats to protect the paint from coming off easily.

I liked that I didn’t have to sand but I did sand to smooth my cabinets out some! I feel that this product doesn’t cover as much as it says on the box. I had to buy two kits to cover my cabinets. In some parts I had to do three coats of paint and I did three coats of the clear as well. Overall, I like the product!

Went on smoothly and covered imperfections well. Definitely would recommend this to anyone who would like to give their cabinets a makeover for a reasonable price.

All preparations were done according to the directions. Used on oak cabinets and the paint just wouldn’t adhere. Sanded off the product and used a regular semi gloss paint which came out great. Could have saved myself a lot of headaches just using regular paint.

Coverage was good, but finish wasn't as glossy as I hoped. I had to buy another water based clear coat to bring out a good, glossy finish.

We painted our cabinets white. I think if we had gone with a color we would have only needed one coat after the primer, but trying to cover wood we definitely needed two coats. I am pleased with the end results.

BEWARE: the coloring on the box for tinting the base does not match the final product. While the paint appears to adhere to the cabinet better than a standard paint, I didn’t feel that the top coat with the paint gave a true hardened finish for our use.

Beautiful Results! Old, dark cabinets in bathroom look beautiful in the LINEN shade. Our walls are painted with Benjamin Moore SWISS COFFEE and this is a near-perfect match. Followed instructions, cleaned with provided solution, then sanded with ultra fine sand paper and wiped clean again before applying the color coats (2) and top coat. We’re so happy with the results we plan on paining our kitchen cabinets with this kit as well.

Ive bought this kit numerous times in the past to redo our cabinets as well as for family members. Ive always been pleased with the results and this time was no different. I am however displeased and disgusted as the cost. Once upon a time, the kit was bigger and came with the antiquing glaze. apparently you have to buy the glaze separately now which makes the cost of the kit insanely stupid expensive for what you get. I dont think ill be buying this again.

New Formula Does Not Cover

You need 3-4 times as much as you used to with the old formulation. Very disappointed. No longer worth refinishing furniture as it takes so much to cover now, unless you go white over white. My project took at least 5 coats for proper coverage. Less product - much higher price. Shame on Rustoleoum for submitted to Shrinkflation. Why would you ever need as much top coat as bond coat? The package needs to be rebalanced & they need to come down in price since they give you so much less now.

Only after I got home did I realize that I was supposed to tempt the color of the lacquer through the cabinets would be the color of my choice I thought it was supposed to be bright white I have yet to install this upgrade in my home

He misses wanted to have the cupboards painted, the product took more coats then I’d like to admit but I’m the end they came out white like she wanted. I’m unsure about durability at this time but our 5 kids will surly test it! Would recommend if you’re working with a budget! But not if you’re looking for perfection.
