Grant Holloway caps meet with historic 110 hurdles victory

In the fastest 110-meter hurdles race ever, Grant Holloway finished first and earned another national championship in 12.86 seconds, a new world lead.

Freddie Crittendon (12.93) and Daniel Roberts (12.96) also ran under 13 seconds and will advance with Holloway to Paris for the Olympics.

Noah Lyles blazes through 200 semifinals, Kyree King makes final as well

Running the best final qualifying time in 19.60 seconds, Noah Lyles continued his dominance at Hayward Field and qualified for the 200 final on Saturday. After missing out on the 100 final on time, King finished second in his heat to automatically qualify for the final in the 200 in 20.25 seconds.

Oregon standout Jaida Ross qualifies for women's shot put final

Needing just two throws to do it, Oregon standout Jaida Ross uncorked a 63 foot, 10 1/4 inch toss in the women's shot put prelims to advance to the final Saturday. Chase Jackson, who threw 64 feet, 6 inches, also qualified with the top mark.

Gabby Thomas sets new world-leading time in women's 200 semis

Winning the third heat in a new world-leading time of 21.78 seconds, Gabby Thomas will lead a strong group of nine in the finals Saturday of the women's 200 meters.

Sha'Carri Richardson had the second fastest time in 21.92 seconds, equally a personal best, but was issued a warning after stepping on the line during the first heat. If she does it during the final, she would be disqualified.

A pair of Ducks, Jenna Prandini and Jadyn Mays, also qualified for the final.

In fast semifinals, Hobbs Kessler and Abraham Alvarado hit Olympic standards in men's 800

Nine athletes in the men's 800 semifinals recorded personal bests in an unusually fast set of races with the final still set to be run.

Both Hobbs Kessler and Abraham Alvarado hit the Olympic standard for the first time, with Kessler finishing with the top time of the semifinals in 1 minute, 43.71 seconds and Abraham Alvarado finished fourth in 1:44.44. Bryce Hoppel (1:44.01), Shane Cohen (1:44.92), and Clayton Murphy (1:45.76) also advanced to the final Sunday.

Former Duck Matt Wisner finished 14th overall and didn't make the final, but ran a personal best 1:46.09.

Miami's Russell Robinson records top mark, and personal best, in men's triple jump prelims

University of Miami standout Russell Robinson jumped a personal best 56 feet, 2 3/4 inches in the men's triple jump to lead the preliminary round Friday and advance to the final.

Donald Scott, who has the Olympic standard and is ranked ninth in the World Athletics rankings, jumped 55 feet, 1/4 inches, and 18th ranked Chris Benard jumped 53 feet, 7 inches to move on as well as 17th-ranked Will Claye (52 feet, 9 1/4 inches).

The men's triple jump final will take place at Hayward Field Sunday.

Katie Moon and Sandi Morris jump once, qualify for women's pole vault final

Friday's women's pole vault first round was mostly uneventful, with the top two American women holding off to clear 14 feet, 9 inches on their first attempts to move on to the final with ease in Katie Moon and Sandi Morris.

The pair bypassed both of the first two heights before clearing the qualifying height with ease. Washington twins Hana and Amanda Moll also qualified as well as Emily Grove and Bridget Williams.

The women's pole vault final will begin at Hayward Field at 3:15 p.m. Sunday.

Rai Benjamin, CJ Allen, Trevor Bassitt easily qualify for men's 400 hurdles final

Three of the top hurdlers in the world will participate in the men's 400-meter final later this week after all advancing past the semifinals Friday. Rai Benjamin, the top American, had the best semifinal time in 47.97 seconds.

CJ Allen finished second in that same heat in 48.16, and Aldrich Bailey ran the Olympic standard for the first time this season in 48.69 for the third-fastest time of the semifinal round.

Rudy Winkler launches top throw during men's hammer throw prelims

Ranked seventh in the World Athletics rankings, Rudy Winkler launched a 252-foot, 11-inch throw on his third attempt to move on to the men's hammer throw finals.

He's joined by Daniel Haugh (245 feet, 10 inches), who also has hit the Olympic standard this season.

Top runners advance, including Elle St. Pierre, in women's 1,500-meter semifinals

Led by the nine runners that have already hit the Olympic standard, the final 12 were decided in the women's 1,500 semifinals Friday, including top finisher Nikki Hiltz in 4 minutes, 1.4 seconds to win the faster first heat.

Sinclaire Johnson, Heather MacLean, Cory McGee, Elle St. Pierre, Emily Makay, Elise Cranny, Addy Wiley, and Dani Jones were the others to advance to the final that had already run the Olympic standard.

38-year-old Kara Winger has top mark in women's javelin prelims

American record holder Kara Winger, who retired and didn't participate during all of the 2023 track season, led the women's javelin preliminary round with a best toss of 206 feet, 8 inches.

Maggie Malone Hardin had the second best mark at 204 feet, 9 inches. Both will compete in the finals in the coming days, with Winger still needing to hit the Olympic standard.

Masai Russell, Alaysha Johnson finish with top times in women's 100-meter hurdles prelims

In a blazing second heat, Masai Russell and Alaysha Johnson ran the fastest times in the women's 100-meter hurdles in 12.35 and 12.37 seconds, respectively. Because just 27 women competed in the prelims, all 27 got to advance to the semifinals Saturday.

One of the top seeds, Nia Ali, jogged the race and qualified in 20.38 seconds.

41-year-old Lolo Jones, who last competed at the trials in this event 12 years ago, ran the race in 14.86.
