I just adore the smell of chocolate buns baking in the oven. The closer it gets to them being finished, the more my house smells like Heaven. You have got to try and make some for yourself. You – and everyone in your home – will love it!

Chocolate Bun Recipe

It’s really difficult for me to pick out my favorite things about these chocolate buns. I like everything about them. They are incredibly flaky. I love the texture that the almond flour gives the buns. The Stevia provides just a hint of sweetness without overpowering the amazing chocolate flavor.

And the chocolate bar? That’s the best part! Fresh out of the oven, the chocolate bar are all gooey and within every bite is a burst of chocolaty-goodness.

They make a warm and comforting dessert that isn’t too overly sweet. But if you wanted, they can also make a delightful side dish to your dinner.

Sometimes I even eat them just as a snack. They are a great way to fill my chocolate craving.

Difference between Chocolate Bun and Chocolate Roll

Sometimes a dinner roll is also called a bun, so the difference can be kind of confusing. But typically, a chocolate roll is a rolled sweet dessert. Think of a cinnamon roll.

A bun, however, is like that nursery rhyme hot crossed buns. It is a bread that is baked in small, round, loaves.

What To Serve With Chocolate Buns

These chocolate buns go with almost any food. You can serve them as a side dish with almost any dinner. They’d be perfect with a salty ham, or a robust pot roast.

You can also serve them as a dessert after dinner. Add a little bit of cinnamon and butter to a hot chocolate bun for a real treat!

How long will chocolate buns last?

Typically, homemade buns will only last about 2-3 days at room temperature. I don’t recommend refrigerating the rolls. When you do, they have a tendency to grow stale faster. If you want to preserve the buns, I suggest putting them in the freezer.Chocolate Bun Recipe - Gluten Free From Scratch (4)

Can you freeze chocolate buns?

If you make more chocolate buns than you can eat in 2 days, put them in the freezer. They will last about 3 months in the freezer. To freeze chocolate buns, decide if you will want to eat them individually, or as a complete pan. If you want to be able to thaw the buns one-at-a-time, either put them in individual zip-top bags or wrap them in plastic wrap.
